From behind the iron curtain, a track with a sense of tragedy and pride. Almost polka like marching drums, like a military parade or similar. Very Eastern European, Russian. [Composer: Bob and Barn]
A medium-tempo, contemplative piece featuring haunting vocals with an Eastern European flavor but also showing a cross-culture influence with a Chinese Erhu, Western acoustic guitar and large percussion. This could represent many things from ancient lost civilizations to futuristic merged societies. [Composer: Matt McLellan]
Greek folk dance type tune, similar to 'Zorba' etc. Steadily increasing tempo throughout. Accordeon and bouzouki over nylon guitars, bass and drums. Can also be a Yiddish, Gypsy or Eastern European folk track. Bright, happy, authentic folky. [Composer: Jeremy Sherman]
Uptempo Russian or Yiddish style Polka. Accordeon, bouzouki and voices over nylon guitars, bass and drums. Can be a Jewish celebration, traditional Greek folk music, Russian folk music, Gypsy music or Eastern European folk music. Available is also an 'underscore version' which cuts out the melodic/top instruments, leaving only the background groove. [Composer: Jeremy Sherman]
A traditional Greek or slightly Turkish sounding folk music track with bouzouki. Composed by our very own Greek composer, Dimitris Plagiannis, this is an exotic, authentic, great 'Zorba' type music track. [Composer: Dimitris Plagiannis]
Here is a collection of 4 recordings of French folk songs (including 'La vie en rose') performed live by street musicians in France, playing accordeon, violin and tamborine. Although the recordings are done with professional equipment with an absolute minimum of background noise, these are authentic street recordings and as such, they may contain some extremely subtle, low level background sounds. Traditional songs, recorded by Adam Skorupa. [Composer: Adam Skorupa]
Beautiful, haunting melodies, with a traditional Greek or Eastern European feel. Drifting like a distant memory of life long ago, and love lost. Also highly suitable for nature and the outdoors. Played on bouzouki, acoustic guitar, slide guitar, and Rhodes piano. [Composer: Gayle Ellett & Todd Montgomery]
A dark, tense and dramatic, textured film score piece. Very slight eastern European feel, but certainly not limited to that region. [Composer: Dimitris Plagiannis]
European style mandolin folk melody; traditional and charming. Suitable for Italian, Sicilian, Greek, Russian, or other European or Eastern European material. [Composer: Helge Krabye]
A Hot Club of France style jazzy piece where the first 30 seconds are in jazzy ballad style, and then the tempo picks up with acoustic riffing on the 8ths. Charming, warm and irresistable. The underscore and the shorter versions omit the ballad opening and go straight to the main part. [Composer: Jeremy Sherman] [ This track is also available on: Music collection: Fresh Jazz, Vol. 1 ]
Uplifting, fun and bright, this is a Hot Club of France style acoustic jazz guitar piece. Saucy and swingin´! [Composer: Jeremy Sherman] [ This track is also available on: Music collection: Fresh Jazz, Vol. 1 ]
A strangely appealing, sparse electronic groove interlaced with French vocal snippets mixed into the beat in a musical way, creating a kind of "french ambient scat". Very unique, off-beat, slightly avant-garde, stylish and sensual. Great material for fashion, design, presentations, etc. There is also a version without the voices. [Composer: Nery Bauer]
A fusion of the traditional and the new, this is a modern, urban, cutting-edge take on the Tango! Featuring electronic rhythms, pulsating synthesizers, a jazzy chillout guitar, and accordeon. Fun, different, suave and daring! [Composer: Julio Kladniew]
The Sami, also known as Lapps, are the indegenous people of Northern Scandinavia. Hailing from northern parts of Norway, Sweden, Finland and Russia (the Kola Peninsula), their lives and appearance have a lot in common with Native Americans. Their music is dominated by the unique and easily recognizable Joik (or Yoik) which again lends similarities to the chanting vocal styles of Native American music. It is often accompanied by a simple hand drum beat. We also offer an instrumental version, which is really just a drone and a hand drum beat, and could be used for any ind
