This collection features 19 ceremonial wedding songs from different regions of Russia. Many of them originate in the 15-16th centuries and were passed down orally from generation to generation.
The songs are accompanied by the entire wedding ceremony and each of them had their own unique meaning and purpose. Many of the songs were derived from some of the most the remote desert villages of the Vyatka province and several expeditions had to be organized for sourcing and recording material for this unique and rare collection.
The songs were performed by the Sloboda Ensemble, conducted by Evgeniy Kalyukin and arranged by Dmitriy Lukyanov exclusively for Shockwave-Sound.com
