This album contains a variety of ethnic Russian ritual songs from remote villages of Vyatka province of Russia.
These songs have been passed down from generation to generation in over a period of several centuries. Many of them date back to the 15th and 16th century. Songs in Russian villages had a very important meaning in a peasants casual life. The songs were used for various occasions such as weddings / marriage, sowing of wheat, death / accompanied on the last journey, etc. etc. These songs have great cultural and historical value. Thanks to the enthusiastic and diligent work of the Sloboda Ensemble with conductor and arrangers Evgeniy Kalyukin and Dmitriy Lukyanov, who organized several expeditions to the desert villages of Russia to collect, arrange, conduct and record this unique folk music material, allowing us to preserve this precious cultural heritage.
The songs were performed by the Sloboda Ensemble, conducted by Evgeniy Kalyukin and arranged by Dmitriy Lukyanov exclusively for Shockwave-Sound.com
